Celebrities die a digital death

Stacey Collins
If you have been surfing the web recently, you may have been shocked by pictures of Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest and Jay Sean lying in coffins holding phones. Well, do not fear readers, it’s not some celebrity plague.
Several celebrities including Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake have decided to rest in digital peace until $1,000,000 is raised on Buy Life.

The celebrities are abandoning the social networks and their collective 30 million followers in aid of Alicia Keys' charity Keep a Child Alive which aims to provide treatment, love and support to families affected by HIV/Aids.

With December the 1st as World Aids Day, the ‘Buy Life’ digital death campaign started with the celebrities posting their last tweet and testament last night (which you can watch here) and their tweeples (twitter followers) and facebooker’s won’t hear a peep from them until their digital lives are bought back.

So if you’re mourning for celeb tweeters Jennifer Hudson or Ellen Degeneres’s, visit Buy Life or text their name via text to 90999 to donate in order to resurrect their digital lives.

Alternatively, you can look on their website for ways to join the fundraising movement yourself.

Will you be staging your own 'digital death'?
