Fashion, foliage and furry animals

Stacey Collins
Yesterday saw the conclusion of London Fashion Week 2011 Autumn Winter collection before it moves to Milan and Paris. The third day of Fashion Week saw Mulberry transform Claridges to countryside as they showcased their models wrapped head to toe in the iconic, quintessential British brand Mulberry.

Upon walking into the room, you would most certainly have been excused for thinking you had just walked into the Secret Garden with the trill of birds filling the air, foliage and furry animals dotted around and giant toadstools transforming the room into a country setting.

The song An English Country Garden and an extract from Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox only served to reinforce the surroundings and of course, this theme translated to the traditional, heritage countryside attire on the catwalk.

Combined with film noir expressions of style, the Autumn Winter catwalk was true to the season with earthly shades of roasted chestnut browns, pheasant greens and mustard functional jackets and floor length skirts accented with foxglove pink, lavender and gold pleated maxi dresses and Polly Pushlock bags.

Celebrities such as Kirstin Dunst, Gemma Arterton and Fearne Cotton attended the show and Mulberry party where Kele, from the split band Bloc Party, performed.

Similar to the New York Mulberry Spring Summer 2011 collection that was revealed at New York Fashion Week, the Mulberry dogs made an appearance on the catwalk also. We hope they are being rewarded with Pedigree’s finest.
